...

"You kept him." Blue nods, focusing on folding Vincent's clean clothes, not wanting to look at the person she once called her best friend.

"And, named him after..." Blue whirls around to face Nathan.

"I did what I had to."

"You could have given him up. My parents would have taken him until you got done with school. There's..."

"He's my responsibility." Silence builds between them; Nathan watches Blue as she finishes folding Vincent's clothes and carries some of them to the dresser in the corner of the room. There was a time when no secrets stood between them. Blue had been more than his best friend: she had been his savior. Whenever he needed help with classes or with getting his parents off his back, she was always there for him. Everyone had always assumed they were a couple because they were always together. No one had been wiser. Until that night...

"You've done a good job with him. He's grown into a really fine young man." Blue turns, surprised, to find Nathan behind her holding the rest of Vincent's clothes. The truth and honesty in his eyes surprises and reminds her of a time when things were very different between them. Unexpected tears form in her eyes and Blue tries to turn away from Nathan before he sees them, but he catches her before she pulls away. Before she resists him, he pulls her close, wanting nothing more than to have things go back to how they were before that night. Giving into the tears, Blue cries for all the losses in her life.
